General Function: Depending on the client’s needs, the Registered Nurse will perform the following functions:

  • Collaborating with the healthcare team
  • Administering medication
  • Adjusting the patient’s care or treatment program
  • Periodic re-evaluation
  • Patient Monitoring
  • Educating patients, family members, and staff
  • And more

Implementation:

  • Perform all orders for medication and treatment as ordered.
  • Make sure that patient/family needs are responded to appropriately.
  • Give families a chance to voice complaints and respond appropriately to the resolution of the complaint.
  • Actively listens to patients and families.
  • Assesses caregiver/patient interaction or patient /family interaction.
  • Assesses the environment for safety and cleanliness and makes recommendations.
  • Assesses infection control practices, including proper hand washing.
  • Reviews the nursing care plan for accuracy, completeness and ensures it is updated properly.
  • Make sure that documentation is done accurately and appropriately in the progress notes.
  • Checks to ensure medications are signed off, treatments completed, documented, and signed off in the records.
  • Makes sure physician’s orders are updated as required and are transcribed properly.
  • Ensures that equipment is properly maintained and cleaned to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Ensures that necessary supplies are available.
  • Make sure that emergency protocols are in place.
  • Reviews the communication book for relevant information.
  • Physically assess the client and their well-being.

Evaluation:

  • Assist in evaluating patient response to the plan of care.
  • Ensures that the personal care plan is revised as needed in response to changing needs.
  • Ensure ongoing assessment of Certified Nurse Assistants/Geriatric Nurse Assistants.

Other Duties::

  • Makes sure that the family is informed and aware of any schedule changes.
  • Is available to the Certified Nursing Assistant/Geriatric Nurse Assistant for private consultation requiring good care and judgment.
  • Assist the office manager in maintaining updated files on all nurses.
  • Makes sure that all records are kept confidential and filed in a locked cabinet.

Qualification:

  • Current RN license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to perform relevant skills
  • At least 2-year hospital or nursing home care
  • At least 2 years experience in supervision and administration.
  • Current malpractice insurance
  • A formal nursing education at a college, university, or hospital that presents a certificate in the form of a Bachelor’s Degree, an Associate’s Degree, or another.
  • Criminal Background
  • Health Clearance- Annual physical exam, TB, Hep B.
